Introduction
If you need somewhere to store files such as CSS and Images that will allow you to use HTTPS on your site, Granicus has a solution for you. An Amazon S3 Storage account is provided as part of our platform solution at no additional cost. If you need an account set up, please raise a support ticket with your request.
Note: This storage area is provided to enable local styling and design enhancements for Self - it is not designed to provide a document management system, and should not be used for sensitive information. If secure document storage is required, please look into storing locally or consider the S3 storage option, as this is not a secure file storage option.
Note: If you are adding images to Forms or to Customer Portal sites using an http URL rather than https, this may trigger security warnings on your site and give security concerns to the users. Utilizing the S3 file storage will address this concern.
There are two options when requesting for S3 storage to be set up for use with the platform. We can set up one of the following, or both, depending on your requirements:
- Your own folder in an S3 bucket: this involves setting up a dedicated folder for you in our existing S3 bucket. This option allows you to store images and files needed for access in your Forms or your Customer Portal, such as the CSS file used to style your Customer Portal.
- Your own separate S3 bucket: this involves setting up your own separate S3 bucket This bucket can then be used with MyServices (such as the FOI MyService) as well as with S3 Storage Integrations, which you can use to upload files directly to this bucket from a Form.
The following file types are automatically prohibited from being uploaded to S3:

Accessing Amazon S3
Once we have sent you your Access Key and Secret Key, you will need to download and install an S3 Browser. Once this is installed, utilize the provided keys to connect the S3 Browser to your account.
S3 Public Bucket Rules
Please be aware S3 is meant as a public store, and to assist in avoiding uploading documents which should not be public, we have implemented a number of rules which may effect how the files behave.
- File types that can be uploaded to Amazon S3 are limited to photos, .js, .html, .pdf, .css .
- It is not possible to browse files on Amazon S3 via public url.
Notes:
- There is no fixed storage limit, but given the type of document to be stored, these would be unlikely to be large files, and this has not been of concern.
- If you experience issues with Hosted files/CSS is not loading please advise Support - so the local rules can be adjusted
- Be advised that any images or files referenced in a form will need to be hosted on a publicly available webservice/website, local storage or the LIM will not be visible
- .svg is not supported - you would need to convert and upload in an alternative format
