Introduction

Both the General Data Protection Regulations (UK) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CA, USA) set out data protection principles, rights and obligations to customers. The Granicus govService platform provides several tools to assist you in meeting these obligations, however it should be noted that you are the Data Controller and therefore must perform your own analysis of the requirements and take all necessary steps to ensure compliance. Functionality provided by Granicus may not automatically ensure compliance.

The following checklist contains some actions you can take to help ensure compliance. In the articles we have provided explanations and Best Practice Guidance.
  • Ensure that your processes are GDPR compliant by reviewing them against the legislation
  • Prepare your Privacy Notice
  • Map your Privacy Notices to processes (eg. in an Excel Sheet)
  • Prepare data retention schedules for:
    • Customer Accounts
    • Case Data
    • Message Data (e.g. Inbox)
