Overview

What are the different sync methods in Legistar? What do "Manual Export" and "Auto Export" mean?

Resolution

While both methods will achieve the same results, Granicus recommends using Manual-Export, as this gives you control over when the sync occurs.

Auto-export is a configuration in Legistar which automatically syncs agenda data every 10 minutes from Legistar to MediaManager.  When an agenda is in draft status this syncing (auto-exporting) process occurs; when the agenda is changed to final status, the data no longer syncs to MediaManager.  When any changes need to be made to the agenda, we recommend changing the status to draft, making the changes, then waiting until the last sync field on the agenda screen to update with the correct timestamp before setting the agenda status back to final.  When you see the last sync field updated with the correct time you know the changes have successfully synced.

Manual-Export is a configuration in which the user needs to export the data manually using a few steps from within the Legistar interface. If you are using the Voting System, you need to use the manual export process since you will be using LiveManager to record meeting content.  When using Manual export, data should only be exported one time.  If data needs to be exported again, delete the event from MediaManager before exporting a second time.
