The Topic/Category Report lets you see how actively you are sending content across topics and categories, and how successful each is at recruiting and retaining subscribers.

To access the Topic/Category report:

  1. On the Account Area toolbar, click Reports.
  2. Under Topic Reports, click Topic & Category.
  3. Select a Start Date and an End Date.
  4. Click Show Report.

Summary

The summary section provides an overview of the report's contents. Fields in the summary include:

  • Total Subscription Topics as of MM/DD/YYYY - Number of topics in the system for the account on the day the report was run. This is not a real-time statistic; if you delete a topic now, the value will not decrement until tomorrow. Note that the date selector does not impact this field.
  • Total Subscriber Profiles as of MM/DD/YYYY - A total of the unique subscriber profiles for the topics and categories in the account. Duplicates are not included in this count.
  • Total Subscriptions as of MM/DD/YYYY - The total number of topic subscriptions as of the end date. For example, if one subscriber is signed up for 12 topics, this counts as 12 subscriptions.
  • Total Bulletins Delivered between MM/DD/YYYY and MM/DD/YYYY - The total number of bulletins sent from your account between the start date and end date. For example, if you create 15 bulletins during the specified time frame and each of those bulletins is sent to 100 subscribers, the number of bulletins delivered is 15.
  • Total Bulletins Delivered as of MM/DD/YYYY - The cumulative number of bulletins sent from your account as of the end date.
  • Total Bulletin Recipients between MM/DD/YYYY and MM/DD/YYYY - The number of unique destination addresses (email, SMS, and digest addresses) that receive a bulletin from the account during the selected time period. Undeliverable or bounced emails are not included in this count.
  • Total Bulletin Recipients as of MM/DD/YYYY - The cumulative number of unique destination addresses (email, SMS, and digest addresses) that receive a bulletin from the account as of the end date. Undeliverable or bounced emails are not included in this count.

Topic Details

To access granular report details by topic, click on the Topic Details tab. You can sort topic details by category. Select a category from the Category drop-down list to limit results to just topics assigned to the selected category. Topic Details fields include:

  • Topic Name - Title of the topic. All topics that existed at any time during the date range selected appear in this list.
  • Code - The topic's unique code within govDelivery.
  • Visibility - Shows the current visibility of the topic (not the visibility of the topic during the selected date range. If the visibility changes, it appears on this list immediately. Options include: Deleted, Listed, Restricted, and Unlisted.
  • Total Subscriptions to Date - The number of subscribers that are currently signed up to receive updates for this topic.
  • New Subscriptions to Date - The cumulative number of subscribers that have signed up to receive updates for this topic. (This number also includes all of the subscribers who have since chosen to unsubscribe.)
  • New Subscriptions This Period - New subscribers for this topic during the specified time frame.
  • Deleted Subscriptions to Date - The cumulative number of subscribers that were deleted from this topic to date.
  • Deleted Subscriptions this Period - The number of subscribers that were deleted from this topic during the specified time frame.
  • Bulletins sent this period - The number of bulletins sent to the selected topic within the selected date range.
  • Total Bulletins Sent To Date - The number of bulletins sent to the selected topic up to the "End Date" of the date range.
  • Date of last send - The date of the most recent send within the selected date range. This value will be blank if there have not been any sends to this topic within the date range.
  • Engagement rate - The number of unique recipients divided by the number of engaged recipients (those who have opened/clicked on links within a bulletin). Note that the report pulls in all bulletins sent within a given date range, but the engagement rate will be calculated beginning 90 days prior to the start date, and ending five days after the end of the given month, to account for engagement after the bulletin is sent. For example, a report pulled for the date range October 1st - October 31st will account for bulletin engagement through November 5th, assuming the current date is later than November 5th. The Engagement Rate value will be blank if there is no recipient data on or before this end date.
  • Sender(s) - The email addresses of the administrators who sent email to the given topic during the date range. This value will be blank if there have not been any sends to this topic within the date range.
  • Topic ID - The internal ID of the topic.

Category Details

To access granular report details by category, click on the Category Details tab. Category Details fields include:

  • Category Name - Title of the category. All categories that existed at any time during the date range selected appear in this list.
  • New Subscriptions to Date - The cumulative number of subscribers that have signed up to receive updates for this category. (Total Subscriptions to Date - Deleted Subscription to Date)
  • New Subscriptions This Period - New subscribers for this category during the specified time frame.
  • Deleted Subscriptions to Date - The cumulative number of subscribers that were deleted from this category to date.
  • Deleted Subscriptions This Period - The number of subscribers that were deleted from this cateduring the specified time frame.
  • Total Subscriptions to Date - The number of subscribers that are currently signed up to receive update for this topic.
