The govDelivery Network is one of the most powerful and unique capabilities that organizations using govDelivery can leverage to reach the maximum number of people. With the govDelivery Network, organizations are able to cross-promote their subscription content on the websites of other similar government organizations. We support over 5,000 of these cross-promotional partnerships for more than 1,000 organizations.

How It Works

For Your Subscribers

Similar to the way Amazon shows related products or services during their check out process, the govDelivery Network provides citizens the opportunity to sign up for updates from multiple government organizations the first time they register as a subscriber. Subscribers to agency email alerts can view and subscribe to content across bureaus of one government agency, or a number of agencies within the same industry or who cater to the same audience.

If you participate in the govDelivery Network, we will automatically populate the agencies that your agency is associated with, based on a wide variety of characteristics, including location, compatibility, and more. We will always optimize the agencies that are displayed to provide you with relevant subscribers.

Organizations using the govDelivery Network have the opportunity to increase their reach, yet when used in conjunction with the Managed Network Service, the potential to reach more people increases dramatically. Participating in the govDelivery Network and Managed Network Service together produces successful results, with organizations seeing 100-500% increases in subscriber list growth.

Managed Network Service

The Managed Network Service was created in response to government organizations requesting that Granicus continually review and update govDelivery Network relationships to ensure best practice compliance. Launched in 2012, the Managed Network Service is currently used by more than 90% of Granicus clients. The Managed Network Service provides Granicus clients with full-service support for managing govDelivery Network relationships at no additional cost. Granicus has managed partnerships for clients throughout the existence of the govDelivery Network, resulting in an extensive list of potential partnerships and documented best practices on how to optimize these partnerships for organizations to achieve maximum value.

All new clients automatically benefit from the Managed Network Service. While clients reserve the ability to opt out, Granicus strongly recommends participation in order to get the maximum return on investment from your use of govDelivery.

Granicus's Role in Managing Network Relationships

Granicus currently maintains over 5,000 purposefully selected cross-promotional relationships between its clients. Through ongoing proactive management of your govDelivery Network partners by Granicus, we ensure that your organization reaches the most people possible. Below are the criteria used to select successful partners. However, Granicus may optimize these at any time and may feature certain content within the govDelivery Network based on current issues of interest or of value to organizations and the public.

  • Number of partners. Granicus typically provides up to 20 partners based on provided guidelines. The more partners you have, the more subscribers you reach.
  • Regionally matched organizations. Federal, state, counties, cities, and transit organizations in overlapping geographies or within the state should partner with each other.
  • Similar function and/or service. Organizations network with partners that serve overlapping audiences or have other appeal (i.e., broad reach) at all levels of government in U.S. and abroad.
    • Same Industries. Examples: National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Science Foundation, Environmental Protection Organization
    • Similar Departments. Examples: United States Department of Treasury and Financial Crimes Enforcement Center, Internal Revenue Service
    • Similar Functions. Examples: Health, Science, Transportation, Military, Safety
    • Cross-government portals. When applicable, Granicus creates partnerships with any organization serving multiple government entities. Example: Access to all options through USA.gov.
    • Performance. Granicus partners organizations with those who are actively contributing to subscriber growth where optimizations are recognized. Example: Choosemyplate.gov is a big driver of subscription growth in the govDelivery Network and will be partnered with similar organizations needing more subscribers.
    • Government subscriber Network benefits. Granicus provides special options for content only available to Government subscribers. GovLoop should be displayed for all accounts where relevant. Government subscribers will include those with .gov, .us, .mil, and .gov.uk domains.

Customizing Your govDelivery Network Information

While it is strongly recommended that organizations participate in the Managed Network Service, there are additional options for customized participation. You can also contact Customer Support or your Customer Success Consultant if you have suggestions for how your network should be managed. If you have government organizations that you work with that are not currently participating in the govDelivery Network, contact our Support team by clicking the 'Contact Support' button on the right side of this page to see if Granicus can reach out to that agency or organization about participation.

When you participate in the govDelivery Network, your account will be displayed in association with other organizations when citizens sign up for email updates from them.

By default, Granicus features your five most popular Topics on the govDelivery Network page, as well as a link to see all available topics from your organization. However, you have the ability to customize how your account is displayed on your partner's network pages and prioritize your own topics. Detailed steps on how to do so can be found here.

Viewing the govDelivery Network Report 

If you participate in the govDelivery Network, you can view the impact of your partnerships in the Network Report. This report details how many new subscribers you receive each month from your govDelivery Network partners, allowing you track your successes and overall metrics

To access the Network Report:

  1. On the Area Option toolbar, click Reports.
  2. In the Account Reports section, click Network Report.
  3. Select the month that you want to see data from.

 

 

New Subscribers this Period

The New Subscribers this Period section details the new subscribers for you account during the chosen month.

  • Direct - Subscribers that originate from your website and your quick subscribe pages
  • Network - Subscribers that originate from the govDelivery Network (signed up to a network partner's updates and then subscribed to your account on the network page)
  • Local Network - Subscribers that originate from the govDelivery Network via local recommendation
    • Note: Only organizations that are currently benefiting from local recommendations via Managed Network Services will see this field
  • Upload - Subscribers that are uploaded to your govDelivery account by an administrator
     



 

Source of New Subscribers - Past 12 Months

The Source of New Subscribers - Past 12 Months section graphically displays where your new subscribers originate from over the past year. The gray bars indicate direct subscribers (those that originate from your website and quick subscribe pages). The red bars indicate subscribers that originate from your govDelivery Network partners. The blue bars indicate local network subscribers (those that originate from from the network via a location recommendation). Again, note that only organizations that are currently benefiting from local recommendations via the Managed Network Services will see the Local Network field.

 

Contributors to Your Account This Period

The Contributors to Your Account This Period section details which govDelivery Network partners are bringing new subscribers to your account.

  • Agency - The name of your govDelivery Network partner(s)
  • Subscribers to Your Account - The number of subscribers that originate from this partner's account (a subscriber signs up for updates from this agency and then subscribes to updates from your account on the govDelivery Network page)
  • Type - There are three subscriber origin types:
    • Network - The subscribers originated from one of your govDelivery Network partners that you are currently linked with
    • Network* - The subscribers originated from one of your govDelivery Network partners that you are not currently linked with
    • Local Network - The subscribers originated from a govDelivery Network partner that was the result of a local recommendation
 

Contributions from Your Account This Period

The Contributions from Your Account This Period section details how many of your subscribers sign up for updates from your partners via your govDelivery Network page.

  • Agency - The name of your govDelivery Network partner(s)
  • Subscribers From Your Account - The number of your subscribers that sign up for updates from your partners (a subscriber signs up for updates from your agency and then subscribes to updates from your partners via your govDelivery Network page)
  • Type - There are three subscriber origin types:
    • Network - The subscribers originated from your account's govDelivery Network page and were sent to one of your partners that you are currently linked with
    • Network* - The subscribers originated from your account's govDelivery Network page and were sent to one of your network partners that you are not currently linked with
    • Local Network - The subscribers originated from your account's govDelivery Network page to another account, which was the result of a local recommendation
