Categories are used to divide topics offered for subscription into an organized hierarchical structure. Topics are assigned to categories or sub-categories. The Quick Subscribe a pages reflect the structure of categories and assigned topics. To edit how categories and topics appear on the Quick Subscribe page, you need to edit the Category Hierarchy.
The Category Hierarchy allows you to drag and drop your categories into a hierarchy tree that subscribers see on the Quick Subscribe page. You can easily nest categories by dragging a category and dropping it onto its intended parent category.
Known Issue and Workaround
Current drag-and-drop behavior of the Category Hierarchy Settings tree sends a category to the bottom of the list when you move it. If you are nesting a category under another category, it will move to the bottom of that nested group. This is a known issue. It's easiest to jot down your desired list order on a scratch piece of paper or whiteboard, and then start from the top of your desired list and use drag-and-drop to send each item to the bottom. As you drag and drop each subsequent category to the bottom, the first category you moved is brought higher in the list. For example, if your list is currently ordered as:
- Health-Conscious
- Commissions
- Police
- Parks & Recreation
- City Council
...and you want to reorder the list to:
- Police
- Commissions
- City Council
- Parks & Recreation
- Health-Conscious
...you would start by sending Police to the bottom of the list, as demonstrated below.
