Legistar is supported only on Windows PCs. It is not compatible with Mac OS X; however, there are several different options for using Legistar while running a non-Windows PC:

Virtualization on Mac OS X – This option requires the you to be running a Mac that is capable of virtualization. Most modern Macs (from 2011 on) can support virtualization. This would require virtualization software such as VMWare Fusion or Parallels and a Windows XP or Windows 7 license. This option does cost money, as licenses for both the virtualization software and the Windows operating system are not free.

Once virtualization is set up, the Legistar client can then be installed onto the Windows operating system.

Remote access via VPN, Remote Desktop Connection, or VNC – This option is an alternative that allows you to remotely access the work PC where the Legistar client is already installed. This may require assistance from your internal IT staff for configuring certain inbound firewall ports to the internal work PC. If a VPN server is already configured then Remote Desktop Connection is free software that comes with any Professional version of Windows XP or Windows 7.

There is no need to reinstall the Legistar client, since the PC being remotely accessed already has it installed.
