Overview

iLegislate enables you to view meeting agendas and attachments, bookmark and take notes on agenda items, generate emails related to agendas, and view past public meeting videos. iLegislate is available as a mobile application for iPad, and as a desktop application for Windows and Mac OS X.

If your jurisdiction uses SpeakUp, you can also view ideas submitted to your organization’s SpeakUp site and view public comments submitted on agenda items.

Requirements

  • You must have the Open Platform Suite, and at least one of the following: Government Transparency, Meeting Efficiency, SpeakUp, or Legislative Management Suite. Contact your Granicus Client Executive to upgrade or to ask for more details.
  • You must have a Granicus username and password.
  • Your Granicus account must have at least Read-only access to Events. Contact your Granicus platform administrator if you don't have this access.
  • Voting on the iPad requires your Granicus account to have at least Read-only access to Encoders.

Creating a Group in the Granicus Platform (Administrators Only)

Note for Administrators: It isn’t necessary to create an entirely new group unless the users are not enrolled in the Granicus Platform at all. Every user basically needs a Granicus Platform account with at least read-only status for Events (and Encoders for iPad Voting).

  1. Open a browser window.
  1. Navigate to your Granicus Platform site (yourjurisdiction.granicus.com).
  1. Sign in with your username and password.
  1. Click the Admin tab.
  1. Click the Users and Groups subtab.
  1. Click New Group.
  1. Enter a name in the Name field.
  1. Enter a description in the Description field.
  1. Click Save.
  1. The new group displays. You can add users as needed using the Add Users to Group button.
  1. Click the Permissions tab.
  1. Under the Events section, select the Read Only radio button. Changes in permissions are automatically saved to the system.
  1. If you want users to have access to iPad voting, select the Read Only radio button under Encoder. This is not required for basic iLegislate usage. Leave all other sections on No Access (this can be configured as needed depending on the user's other responsibilities in the system).
