With Advanced Bulletin Templates, your designers can create visually interesting and branded templates, which can be used by anyone at your organization when sending a bulletin. This allows your authors and content editors to focus on the subject matter of your emails.

Not only can templates increase the efficiency of your communications team, they also encourage a consistent look and feel for your bulletins. By creating bulletins with consistent branding and design, you can boost your subscriber’s recognition and trust of your communications.

Getting Started with a New Template

There are three starting points for creating an Advanced Bulletin template:

  • Flexible Template: Create a completely customized template from scratch.
  • Layout-Based Template: govDelivery offers a library of stock layouts that you can use to create a custom template.
  • Copy an existing template: If custom templates have already been created for your organization, you can copy it to create a similar template with some tweaks.

Creating a Flexible Template

The preferred method for creating new bulletin templates, Flexible Templates offer a quick turnaround time for creating responsive, eye-catching bulletins with no coding knowledge required. Default styling options, and the ability to lock sections from editing ensures a uniform appearance for your bulletin communications.

Creating a Layout-Based Template

You never have to start from a completely blank slate when creating an advanced bulletin template. Layout-Based Templates allow you to choose a basic structure for your template and then create and fill in all design elements. Before creating a template, take a moment to review the layouts we offer in the Advanced Bulletin Layout-Based Templates article.

To create an Advanced Bulletin template from a stock layout:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Templates.
  2. In the Templates menu on the right, click Advanced Bulletins.
  3. Click Create Custom Template.
  4. Make sure the Layout-Based Template tab is selected on the left side of the screen.
  5. Click the layout of your choice.

See Designing Your Advanced Bulletin Template for information on adding design elements to your template.

Editing or Copying a Custom Advanced Bulletin Template

After you have designed and saved a template, you can modify that template at any time. If you want to create a similar template with some tweaks, you can also copy an existing template. Note that template modifications only affect bulletins that are created after the template is changed. If you modify a template, it will not modify bulletins that were created previously (even if the bulletin has not been sent).

To edit an existing template:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Templates.
  2. In the Templates menu on the right, click Advanced Bulletin.
  3. On the Custom Templates tab, click the template you want to edit.
  4. Update the template.
  5. Click Save changes.

To copy an existing template:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Templates.
  2. In the Templates menu on the right, click Advanced Bulletins.
  3. On the Custom Templates tab, find the template and click Create a Copy.
  4. Give the new template a name and make your changes.
  5. Click Save changes.
