Themes influence the look and feel of your template. Some of the characteristics affected by your theme include font settings, background colors, header specifications, etc. You can either use one of the existing themes or create a custom theme.
Applying an Existing Theme to Your Template
To apply an existing theme to your template:
- Click the Themes tab.
- Select an existing theme from the dropdown menu.
Creating a Custom Theme
To create a custom theme that is unique to your template:
- Click the Themes tab.
- Select Customize Theme.
- Click into each section to set the values for each element. See below for further details.
Hint: When you select a theme section, the corresponding section of the template is highlighted.
Depending on the layout you selected, the Themes sections may vary from the ones in this graphic.
The following table describes the theme elements. Please note that you will have to set the elements for each section individually (e.g., you cannot set the paragraph text for the left column and have it apply to each section).

Background color | Sets a solid background color for the selected section of the template. | Background image | Select or upload an image for the background of the selected section. To do so:
- Click Select an image.
- From the image library, select an existing image or upload a new image.
| Border | Set the width, style, and color for the border of the selected section. | Padding | Set the padding for the selected section. By default, the padding applies to the top, right, bottom, and left margins. To set the padding individually for each margin, click Split and set the appropriate values. | Paragraph Text | Set the color, font family, font size, text alignment, link color, and bottom margin for paragraph text in the selected section. | H1 | Set the color, font family, font size, text alignment, link color, and bottom margin for H1 text in the selected section. | H2 | Set the color, font family, font size, text alignment, link color, and bottom margin for H2 text in the selected section. | H3 | Set the color, font family, font size, text alignment, link color, and bottom margin for H3 text in the selected section. | Section Divider | Set the padding for the section divider in the selected section. Managing Themes
The manage themes functionality allows you to set what themes can be used with your template. You can also save your custom theme and make it available to all other templates using the layout that you selected.
Setting Available Themes
When you create a template, you have the option to set which themes can be used with your template to create a bulletin. For example, if you create a custom template, you can restrict the use of themes so that only your custom theme can be applied to the template.
To set what themes can be used with your template:
- On the Themes tab, click Manage Themes.
- A list of all available themes display. Check the themes that you want to allow with your template.
- Click Save theme selection.
Saving Custom Themes
Once you have created a custom theme, you have the option of renaming the theme and sharing it with all other templates that use the layout that you selected.
To rename and share your theme:
- On the Themes tab, click Manage Themes.
- Click the Rename and share theme tab.
- Enter a name for your custom theme.
- If you wish to share this theme with other templates that use this layout, check Share.
- Click Save Changes.
